Melbourne!

last weekend Max and I went to Melbourne for a day …(Max’s shout for my most recent bday!!)

We stayed at a place called The Nunnery on Nicholson St, Brunswick. A perfect spot for us! I would highly recommend to any visitors!

We arrived at 10.30pm, Friday evening – off loaded our bags and hit the streets of Melbourne …

Saturday day was HOT and alot of walking and fun! Max bought a pair of jeans from NOBODY and i got 4 postcards at an art gallery … we sampled the yummiest icecream in the world and had average sushi for lunch.

Saturday night was very cool – we dinned at a incredibly busy and dimmly lit restaurant/bar called Cookie … yummy Thai fusion food and good wine! After dinner we walked up 7 flights of stairs to get to a roof top bar called “TOFF” (i think??) this was alot fun but pretty chill … for the rest of the night we sat on the streets people watching … one of my favourite pastimes … got home about 2am (melbourne time) and watched some Mighty Boosh!

It was a very fun / short trip and has left me wanting more! I’ve decided i need to get out of Auckland for at least a year sometime soon … Visiting different cities always makes me feel like i’m missing out – which i think i am!

Quote for the day – “The world is yours for the taking; whatever you make of it.” epic. hah

goodbye summer…. hello winter

this time of the year again … sigh, summer’s leaving us behind … mmmm, winters on its way …

Goodbye cut off’s, outdoor public pools, calmy backs, peaches at the beach, mosquitoes, fish and chips in the warm sun and bare arms at night.

Hello to rugging up in bed, freezing toes and chilly hands ,  fejoas, sleeping to the rain, goosebumps after showers, hot soup, scarfs and woollen jackets …

I have a love hate relationship with the two “extreme” seasons … each equally as beautiful and each equally  as bothersome.

Now i know Auckland doesn’t actually have it too bad in terms of  excessive heat or chilliness but because it’s what i’m used to, i feel i am entitled to a bit of weather sorrow and anticipation! So despite absolutely loathing waking up early at winter time and the darn chilbalns i get, i do love some winter moments – like letting a hot chocolate warm my hands or soaking in a hot bubble bath till i feel like i may faint.

I also adore layers of clothes and am excited to jump into my jacket i recently purchased from the army surplus store and mix it up with an assortment of soft merino tee’s, slack cardis, frills, tailored blazers and  trousers, big gold and silver earrings, bracelets and necklaces, subtle tones, crisp white shirts, knit dresses, lace, layers of silk chiffon, grey marl , dark lips, stripes, cropped jeans, ALL leather, dirty blonde, sparkles, tule and netting, woollen leggings, wack heels and lots of fine detail in small amounts … mmmm … see, that isn’t even the begining of it and already – thats alot of layers and looks! eeeppps! Here are some of the looks i am going to jump on!!

As for this chilly winter approaching – there is a silver lining to every cloud … and i’ve dedcided i’m actually quite excited about this silver lining …

HEARTS

i love hearts

they have always been my favourite shape (i realise it is slightly unnessasery to have a favourite shape…) ever since i was small i have drawn hearts – i like what they stand for, how you can colour them absolutely any colour, that you can draw them to create different moods, that you can make them 3D (paper mache, duh!) ah, eeeeverything about them!

i wanna get a tattoo of a heart!!

trademe purchases

i’m starting to get into buyying off trademe – i’ve never really done this before as i’ve always thought of it as too complex and unreliable … but my first few purchases have proved me wrong! it has all been pretty easy … one item was slightly diapointing (he D & G tee has some pilling on the logo) but you can’t win them all!!and i still like this item.

during these tough financial times (*ahem*) we all have to make changes and i have offically decided i’m going back to old fashion D.I.Y and making/customising clothes, teatowels, beauty products etc at home and buying second hand!

i will try and post some of my creations!

For now, here are the trademe goodies! +_+

crayfish and carousing

Had a pretty fun night Tuesday just been – went to Mickey Avalon’s gig at the Kings Arms (Re: photo #2) and got a little bit loose (not too crazy of corse!!) got home anout 2am – not bad – if only i didn’t have work at eight the next day! waaa … this short sleep and usage of HEAPS of energy contributed to not only a hung over Wednesday but also a very painful head cold Thursday and Friday … no more partying on school nights for me !!! Focus Focus Focus!!

The crayfish i thought was just cute and cool colours have been used – and it reminds me of me lovely Poppa  who passed away a couple of years ago. He was a crayfisherman for as long as i can remember and was very good at it too i believe!

-_- he was a very amazing man and i alaways had a soft spot for his slighty inappropriate jokes, harmonica playing and excessive smoking …
